John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado that specialized in folk-pop music inspired millions of people. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell new Mexico, but fell in love Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Many people took the road through Colorado due to Denver's famous songs for his home state. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states it is true that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many around the world. In my journeys, you encounter someone on the other part of the globe, or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the very first thing that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff originally wrote it using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the earlier versions that it was going to be an instant popular. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
